📺 Korean Tv Series Review: Her Private Life (그녀의 사생활)

File:Her Private Life-P1.jpg
Sung Deok Mi leads a double life as she's both a skilled and resouserful curator at Chaeum Art Gallery and...a K-Pop idol fangirl! She has been a idol fan all her life, but only her best friend and fangirl partner Lee Sun-Joo and her childhood friend Nam Eun-Ki knows about she still has this particular 'hobby' and try to cover for her even to her parents.
Her current bias is boy group White Ocean's member Cha Shi An and she's also the manager of a popular fanpage about him. Shin An is an art collector so Deok Mi wants to buy a painting while in Shanghai for a business trip, but her plan gets ruined by Ryan Gold, a cold and talented art critic, who ends up buying the painting.

Later on, Ryan Gold will be appointed as the new director at Chaeum Gallery and the two of them have most definitely the worst start of their working relationship, eventually manage to get past it and join forces to make the gallery's 5th year anniversary's exhibition a success. This particular exhibition will display arts owned by celebrities and Shin An is one of them, with much joy by Deok Mi; but Ryan Gold as well as his own reasons to include him...

My Opinion👍👎
In the first three episodes, Deok Mi has daydreams that are so absurd I almost considered stop watching the series, but thankfully the direction became less cartoony soon after and the final product is really enjoyable.
The first part focuses more on the fangirl aspect of Deok Mi and I found it really interesting because I still can't understand the devotion some fandoms have for their 'idols'...I, too, have some favorite singers but I'd never cross my mind to send them expensive gifts for their birthday or, let's say, a food truck to their filming location. WHO'S WHY ME?🙋

The second part is more about Deok Mi and Ryan Gold's relationship and kind of slides off the fangirl thing, which at first was a nice twist, but I felt that the (inevitable) love triangle was weak and not necessary, after all.

Final thoughts: I liked the whole art-related setting and the positive way fangirling was portrayed, also the dramatic aspect was there yet not overpowering the light and fun vibe of the entire series.

FUN FACT: Ahn Bo-Hyun portrays Nam Eun-Ki, Deok Mi's childhood friend and Korean Olympic medalist in Judo, but this isn't the first time that he plays this role; in the webtoon Dogko Rewind he is Tae-Jin, a high school boy who practices wrestling.
