Felicity Jones' "Inferno" Promo Tour Lookbook

Dan Brown's best selling book "Inferno" is finally in theatres and we can enjoy another mistery adventure with Dr. Robert Langdon (a.k.a Tom Hanks).
A constant in Brown's books is that Langdon always has talented and independent (not to mention stunning) female sidekicks and this time is up to Felicity Jones/Sienna Brooks to help the famous Harvard symbologis.

Anyway, in this post I wanted to share all Felicity's looks during the movie promo tour, that brought her from Florence to Los Angeles, and in many other European cities in between.

Take a look and enjoy!
Florence, Italy
First photocall and premiere could not be anywhere else if not Florence, where the movie is set.
There Felicity showed three look:
Press conference: wearing a black jumpsuit by Stuad over a white long sleeve blouse by Rodebjer
Photocall: wearing a tulle sleeves with peter pan collar blue dress by Gucci
Movie premiere: wearing a gorgeous red dress by Valentino

Berlin, Germany
Then it was time for Germany...to be more specific: Berlin!
Photocall: in a black zipped dress over a with long sleeve turtle neck shirt
Movie premiere: in a gorgeous embellished gown by Alexander McQueen

Paris, France & Londo, UK
The French capital was up next to host an event for the movie and Felicity showed up with a black striped shirt and black trousers by Isabel Marant.

After that...London!
BBC radio one interview wearing a baby blue blouse with black velvet bow by Gucci

Los Angeles, USA
And finally...the USA.
Movie premiere: wearing a printed midi dress by Erdem.

Of all these amazing outfits especially loved the Valentino red gown worn in Florence and the Alexander McQueen worn in Berlin.
How, about you? Which one is your favourite?

Novel of the Week: Looking for Alaska by John Green

17416065
After "The Fault in Our Star" and "An abundance of Katherines", I finished reading another John Green's novel. If you read my previous reviews then you already know I found the "The Fault" amazing, while the second really left me disappointed.
With these premises, here's my review of Looking for Alaska by John Green.

Even if the title may lead thinking a girl is the main protagonist, it is indeed a boy, Miles Halter, whose story is all about: born and raised in Florida, Miles decides to apply at Culver Creek Preparatory School, in Alabama, claiming he's doing so to seek for the "Great Perhaps"...a term Miles doesn't know the real meaning himself.
Looking For Alaska Memorable Quotes
Once settled, he meets his roomate: Chip "Colonel" Martin, a sort of math genius who studies there thanks to a scholarship. The two of them bond immediately, mainly because the Colonel is very outgoing, and introduces Miles to Alaska Young; going from being exuberant to icy cold and detached within seconds, Alaska is a real and true enigma and catches Miles' attentions right away!
The three of them spend a lot of time together, also with other friends like Takumi and Lara. They study, plan jokes against "weekday warriors", wealthy students at Culver Creek, who leave the school on weekends. Everything is normal, even if Alaska sometimes has her NO days or comes out with really weird and disturbing phrases like when, questioned how could she smoke so fast, she replied "I smoke to die". She really has an intricate personality.

Then someday, or better one night, Alaska and the Colonel were drinking hard while Miles was reading, listening to their chats...and somehow him and Alaska ends up kissing, something Miles has been hoping for a long time. Then they fall asleep, but he hears Alaska waking up, aswering to a phone call in the hallway and coming back in the room hysterical, screaming she forgot something and always ruins everything, begging the boys to help her leave the campus; the two had no other choice than help her...even if that led to an unfortunate tragedy.

What I liked
First time I found secondary characters so well described and with their fair part in the story. The Colonel is absolutely my favourite (along with his mother, Dolores!) and also Takumi, Lara and Culver Creek's professors don't just stay there as a background. I loved the dialogues and the themes the protagonists talked and reflected about.

What I did not like
To me, Alaska's character reminds a lot Margo Roth Spiegelman from John Green's "Paper Towns". They're both mysterious, hard to read and 'outsiders': they don't fit in just one category, actually they both make their own. It seems like the author liked very much the character that decided to re-use it in another novel. And I didn't like the reason why Miles moves to Culver Creek: seeking for his "Great Perhaps" may sounds cool and mystic, and yet I'd have prefered a more rational reason.

Beside all, "Looking for Alaska" is a positive novel: it's about the changes we all have to confront, deal and ambrace in our lives. How important is to look at both sides of stories and that planning jokes is alway a good idea!

My Vote: 8/10

Bryce Dallas Howard vs Queen Maxima of Netherland

Do you know that part in "Cinderella", where the Fairy Godmother says her she's going to modify her shabby dress just a bit and it turns out COMPLETELY different? Well, this is kind of what happened to this Givenchy Resort 2016.
Let's take a look.
Bryce Dallas Howard wore Givenchy's green animalier printed dress first, while attending the premiere of her latest movie "Pete’s Dragon", back in August. She wore a form fitting version of it and completed the look with burgundy Prada sandals and amazing Irene Neuwirth earrings.
Queen Maxima of Netherlands wore the same dress, but opted for a more lady like style, with an A line skirt and open toe black shoes. She's currently in Argentina (her homeland) in the role of UN Ssecretary General's Special advocate for inclusive finance for development (UNSGSA).

Even if the dresses have the same print motif and neckline, they have different shapes. But look how the real dress was supposed to be....

At this point I'm not sure whether I should ask you for who do you think wore it better or who modified it better....

Kristen Stewart vs Anna Dello Russo

She did it again! Vogue Japan creative editor and fashion enthusiast Anna Dello Russo wore the same outfit as Kristen Stewart, but during Paris FashionWeek, likewise she did with THIS look.
God, I love her!
American actress Kristen Stewart wore this Chanel white sheer dress first, back in July, on the red carpet of her latest movie 'Cafe Society'. She completed the look with black sandals and sported a short, blonde and sleek bob.
Vogue Japan editor Anna Dello Russo wore the same attire at Chanel's fashion show, during last Paris Fashion Week. She basically copied Kristen's dress and shoes, but went for her usual hairstyle and channeled her inner "Anna Wintour" with big black sunglasses.

Who do you think wore it better?
Kristen Stewart or Anna Dello Russo?

UPDATE - this rock'n'roll dress has also been worn by British actress/model Gala Gordon at the The Serpentine Galleries Summer Party in London, on June 28th 2017.

Alexa Chung vs SoKo

When Alessandro Michele took on Gucci, we never thought he was going to turn the iconic brand upside down, recreate it and make it even more spectacular. Well, he did and the fact that many of his creations have been worn by lots of celebs is a solid proof!
Tv presenter and it girl Alexa Chung wore this pale pink dress with floral details on the neckline back in June, at the Gucci Cruise 2017 fashion show, held at the Cloisters of Westminster Abbey, London. She styled it with rounded laced up black heels (with pompoms!) and half updo hairstyle.
The same pice has been worn by actress/singer SoKo, at the Paris premiere of her latest movie "The Dancer", last September. She also gave it her style to the look, wearing high platform heels with white socks!

I'm more a fan of Alexa's look...SoKo's a bit over the top for me. But tell me....

Alexa Chung or SoKo?

Cure it with Books/Movies: About God...

A month ago, more or less, I was reading a movie magazine and one of the articles caught my attention: promoting "Suicide Squad", the journalist asked to a few actors of the TV serie 'Gomorra' to name their best villain, whether he/she was from a movie, a book or anywhere else...and one of them answered "God, from the Old Testament": cruel, vindictive and acted like a real mob boss.

I don't know why, but I immediately thought about Morgan Freeman's God in both "Bruce Almighty" & "Evan Almighty". His God was far away from the brutal one of the Old Testament, so I decide to do a list of books and movies where God (the Catholic one, at least) is portrayed both as good or bad.

Some of this movies are more about Jesus than God, but hey! he's his son anyway (again, for the Catholics).

Enjoy!

MOVIES

Oh, God! (1977) by Carl Reiner. With John Denver, George Burns, Teri Garr and Ralph Bellamy.
Life of Brian (1979) by Terry Jones. With Graham ChapmanJohn CleeseMichael Palin and Carol Cleveland.
Dogma (1999) by Kevin Smith. With Linda Fiorentino, Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Jason Lee.
Bruce Almighty (2003) by Tom Shadyac. With Jim Carrey, Morgan Freeman and Jennifer Aniston.

7 km to Jerusalem (2007) by Claudio Malaponti. With Luca Ward, Alessandra Barzaghi, Alessandro Etrusco e Alessandro Haber.
The Brand New Testament (2015) by Jaco Van Dormael. With Pili GroyneBenoît PoelvoordeCatherine Deneuve and François Damiens

BOOKS
The Second Coming by John Niven
The Childhood of Jesus by J. M. Coetzee

All of the movies listed above (beside 7 km to Jerusalem) are comedies and/or parodies about God, but they're all about beliving in something and someone we cannot fully understand.

Now, tell me...have you seen some of these movies or read the books? Do you have any other  God's movie I forgot to mention?

Novel Of The Week: Dragonfly in Amber #2 by Diana Gabaldon

Gabaldon's Italian editor decided to split her books, starting right with Dragonfly in Amber, so that we have book nr.1 (Dragonfly in Amber) and book nr.2 (literally transled as "The Comeback").
It starts when Jamie and Claire get back to Scotland and home in Lallybroch...
Ladies and gentlemen, here's my review of  Dragonfly in Amber #2 by Diana Gabaldon.

Rihanna vs Anna Dello Russo & Kendall Jenner

Well, I didn't see this coming! It's hard to belive this red heart-shaped fur coat from Saint Laurent's A/W 2016 collection has been worn not by two, but three different celebs.
First has been Barbadian singer Rihanna, who didn't wore the coat for a red carpet or a photo shoot, but on a normal Sunday evening to have dinner with friends earlier last September. She went more than casual with a baseball hat, light blue ripped shorts and laced up shoes.
The second person who braved this look is non other than ours thruly Anna Dello Russo (Editor at Large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan). True to her eccentric style, she showed a few days ago at Emporio Armani show, during Paris Fashion week, wearing a greyish slip dress and open toe sheer black sandals.
Last but not least, model Kendall Jenner, who played with the jacket and some golden glasses in an Instagram photo. She also wore ripped jeans and what seem to be slip in white shoes.
