Switched at Birth

They say that we all have someone on Earth that looks just like us...Sometimes it's just your twin, sometimes is someone who's totally unrelated to you... It all started watching cycle 6 of Australia's Next Top Model, where I noticed that one of the contestant was outrageously identical to Emma Stone...

One thing comes to another, so here's my list of celebrities who look like they're related and yet...they aren't!

Emma Stone (American actress)                                  Kathryn Lyons (Model/Australia's NTM contestant)
Nick Offerman (American actor)                                         Zach Galifianakis (American actor)
Javier Bardem (Spanish actor)                                                       Jeffrey Dean Morgan (American actor)
Carl Philip (Prince of Sweden)                                                           Orlando Bloom (British actor)
Sarah Shahi (Person of Interest's Samantha Shaw)                   Mercedes Masohn (Chuck, The Finder and 666 Park Avenue's swedish actress)

Did you know some of them? What you think??

Today, January 27th, is International Holocaust Remembrance Day and I would like to dedicate this "Cure it with Movies/Books" post remembering the Holocaust victims.

Here's my list of movies and books t watch and read in this special day. #WeDon'tForget

Movies :

File:Vitaebella.jpgLife is Beatiful (1997) by Roberto Benigni. With Roberto Benigni, Nicoletta Braschi,

Saving Mr. Banks Movie PosterSaving Mr.Banks (2013) by John Lee Hancock. With Tom Hanks, Emma Thompson, Paul Giamatti, Jason SchwartzmanBradley Whitford and Colin Farrell.

I saw for the first time "Mary Poppins" the movie when I was 8 or 9 years old, thanks to the awesome nanny I had myself back then. I'm ashamed to admit that only recently I've find out that originally "Mary Poppins" was a book, so when I heard about this movie I called my ex nanny (now friend) and went to see it.

Here's the plot (SPOILER ALLEART!!)

Cure it with Movies/Books: Mom Drives You Crazy

Moms (and families in general) are the most important people of your life...they will love you unconditionally and always will stand at your side, but let's face it! Sometimes moms are the ones who drive you crazy!!

My mom favourite phrases are: "Why are you dressing like that? It's so old style!", "Why you're not going out tonight?"(when I'm studying for an exam), "You came home too late last night, that's not good!"(when I'm on holiday) and my favourite of all: "Sweetie, I love you and you're beautiful anyway but...please! Put on some mascara!"

If you can relate with those lines, here's my list of movies&books to help you laught about it...
Because I Said So Movie Poster
Because I Said So (2007) by Michael Lehmann. A lovely comedy on how handle an overprotective mother. Reccomended to all those who loves their moms, but simply can't stand their constantly presence and advises. With Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore.
Freaky Friday (2003) by Mark  Waters. This comedy with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan is perfect if you fight with your mom for everything (even if you later understand it was a silly thing).
My Sister's Keeper Movie PosterExtra Large Movie Poster Image for Spanglish (#1 of 3)
Spanglish (2004) by James L.Brooks. Perfect if you feel that your mom cares too much of anyone else but not you and when, besides to family's problems, language is another obstacle. What a mother wouldn't do for her daughter's future.
My Sister's Keeper (2009) by Nick Cassavetes. Another example of a fighting mom, who simply doesn't want to give up over her eldest daughter's disease.

Paula by Isabel Allende

Movie Review : About Time

File:About Time Poster.jpgAbout Time (2013) by Richard Curtis. With Domhnall GleesonRachel McAdams and Bill Nighy.

It seems to me that Rachel McAdams loves acting in movies where the principal theme is time-travelling (do you remember "The Time Traveler's Wife"?) Well, here's a comedy about it BUT! I've to warn you that if you think you'll know what the protagonist's going to choose, you'll pre surprised because this movie is so unpredictable!

Here's the story (SPOILER ALLEART!!)

At the age of 21, Tim's father reveals him that all the males in their family have the ability to travel through time. They can't change world history, only theirs. At first, Tim believes that his father is pranking him but, after trying to focus on a particular day and ACTUALLY being transported in that day, he has to change his mind...

The summer after discovering of this ability, Tim falls in love with Charlotte, his sister's friend, who came to spend the holidays with him and his family...Even if he had been charming and not clumsy as he always is, Charlotte still doens't like him back and, at the end of summer, she leaves. Now Tim realises that not everything can be changed by using time travelling.
About Time

After a while, Tim moves to London to work as a lawyer and for a certain period of time he stays at Harry's house. Harry is Tim's father's friend and he's quite gruff and isteric as he's trying to finish his theatrical play.

One night, Tim's going to dinner with his friend Jay at the Dans le Nois, a restaurant where you dine in complete darkness. There they find themselves sit next to two beautiful female voices and they decided to meet face to face after dinner. So when they're out the restaurant Tim finally meets Mary. They exchange their phone numbers and Tim goes home happy. But it won't last long because, when he gets in, Tim finds Harry desperate: an actor forgot the lines and the whole play was a failure. Tim goes back in time and fixes it but when his about to call Mary, he can't find her number... He goes back in time more than once, but finally gets to know her again and they fall in love.

The rest of the movie is about Tim and Mary's everyday life, with its ups and downs, like the birth of their first daughter Posy or the alcohol problems of Kit Kat (Tim' sister).

I really don't know what to say about this movie. I thought it was the same old Brithis comedy, but I couldn't be more wrong! It has everything you could want in a movie: amazing actors, a story with problems that everyone can relate to (except for the time travel ability, I suppose), a terrific screenplay and beautiful photography. It also has a splendid story about father/son relationship that almous made me cry...Bill Nighy is at his best!
This movie is a "must see"!

Raking : 5 /5

p.s: I knew I've already seen him somewhere!! Tim's friend Jay is Will Merrick from Skin's (3rd generation)

Cure it with Movies/Books: Sisters Fight!

Today I want to write about another trend of this season that is not a "fashion" trend, but.. "literary". Yep!
Ella Berthound and Susan Elderkin wrote "An AZ of Literary Remedies" which is basically who to cure every problem with a book...
I loved this idea, so I've decided to copy it and make my own lists about different situations and which books and movies use for curing it.

It's nearly impossible to have a brother or a sister (in my case BOTH!) and not to fight at least once in your's a matter of fact! And sometimes maybe the fight keeps on going a little bit further than we thought and siblings end up not to talking to each other for a while... To avoid this scenario here's some books and movies that could help to laugh about the fight and fix things up!

Here's my solutions for : Brothers/Sisters Fight!

Movies :

In Her Shoes (2005) by Curtis Hanson. Maggie (Cameron Diaz) and Rose (Tony Collette) are sisters, but since Maggie's the most showy, she gets all the men's attentions. So when Rose finds ine her appartement Maggie and the man Rose's in love with, she kicked her sister out.

This is a story about two deeply different person that find a way to fix their incompatibilities thanks to the affection they feel to each other.
