👗Bianca Lawson vs Keleigh Sperry

For today's #WWIB we have two absolute newbies...or should I say three, because for the designer as well its first appearence here!
Actress Bianca Lawason wore this fantastic Alice+Olivia floral embroidered gown first, while at the
Annual PaleyFest Fall TV Previews. She added nothing more, given the dress particularity: neutral make up and a loose hairstyle.
Nearly a month later, model Keleigh Sperry (Miles Teller's fiancée) wore the same gown at the 'Only The Brave' premiere. She opted for an high and messy bun and nude colored lipstik to complete the look.

👗Laura Haddock vs Nina Dobrev

Today's #WWIB is total white!
Laura Haddock has been the first to wear this Prabal Gurung piece, attending (alongside husband Sam Claflin) the premiere of his latest movie ‘My Cousin Rachel’, back in June. She went minimal, leaving all the attention on the layered dress, with a simple hairstyle and make up.
Nina Dobrev opted for a more edgy approach, showing off the runway version of the look with the black belt and her new short bob cut. The actress attended the he premiere of ‘Flatliners’, later this September.

🎬Movie Review: A Perfect Day

Risultati immagini per a perfect day
Somewhere in the Balkans - 1995

Mambrù and B., two veterans AID workers, are disillusioned and with a humour darker than black. The newest memeber of their team, Sophie, on the other hand is an idealist and really wants to make the difference in in villages torn apart by Yugoslav wars.
Their task for the day is to restore a water well, where a fat man drowned: they need to get the body out before the water gets contaminated, but the rope they use breaks...
Risultati immagini per a perfect day movie
While B. and his translator look for a new rope, Mambrù and Sophie head to the UN headquarters, were they get orders to stop any kind of help to the locals: war is over, so they are not allowed to do anything, if not helping with demining. Mambrù also has to take war analyst Katya to the airport: the two are ex-lovers and it looks like they have quite a few things that still need to be discussed.

This is the start of their day-long journey to find a new rope, in an area where war is "officially" over, but that doesn't mean the operators are safe: rebels, landmines, UN's rigid rules, poverty and Mambrù ex-lover will make every effort twice as difficult.
Immagine correlata
My Opinion👍👎
This is a war movie, no doubts. Its peculiarity is that you won't see a single bullet shot nor a human killing another human: nothing it's showed, all is implied.
The surroundings are bare and desolated, everything reminds were you are and how horrible and critic the situation is. A simple thing like looking for a rope becomes almost an epic quest for gold.
All being said, you may think this movie is dreary, depressing and negative at its best...prepare to be surprised because IT IS NOT: obviusly it's not funny like a comedy, but Mambrù and B's black humour is almost comforting and their willingness to help others (even if it's not completely disinterested) a spark for optimism.

To sum it up, you have to watch this movie! It's realistic, but not overwhelming and it's istructive, if you haven't got the chance to study contemporary history at school.

Would I pay the full prize ticket? I saw it on Tv, but I'd have definitely payed the full prize ticket to watch it at the cinema.

👗Lily Collins vs Michelle Williams

Time for an 'old' #WWIB, since the dress made its first appearence in November, last year.
Lily Collins wore this Self Portrait bi-coloured crochet dress first, while heading out of the Today Show studios, where she made a guest appearance to promote her movie 'Rules Dont Apply'. Her style was very bon ton, with simple black high heels and a semi updo hairstyle.
Singer Michelle Williams wore the same dress last April and styled the dress with a more modern approach, wearing over-the-knee black boots and mirror sunglasses.

Game Changer by Charissa Stastny - Book Blast & Giveaway

Game Changer by Charissa Stastny

Meridee Mansford wants nothing to do with the popular crowd. She’s comfortable being invisible. But that doesn’t stop her from dreaming about the hunky football player who visits the campus ice cream shop where she works. Still, she’s smart enough to know he’d never notice a girl like her, and she’d never want him even if he did. Too much unwelcome attention. Parker Harrington basks in the glory that’s been his since the game-changing passes he caught that pushed his team into the national spotlight. Sticky Fingers is his media moniker now, and the cheerleaders who used to ignore him when he sat the bench have become his most devoted fans. But when he accidentally crashes into a quiet coed and covers her in orange chicken, it throws off his offensive game. As fate, ice cream, and orange chicken throw the opposites together, will Parker continue keeping company with women he knows are only using him for his fame, or will he change up the game and risk his heart on a genuine girl who despises the attention he craves?

Praise for the Book
“A fun and flirty new adult romance. It’s a sweet indulgence that keeps you turning pages. The start to what is sure to be a great new series."
Jennifer Peel, author of 'Pianos and Promises' series
“Opposites attract when the overlooked sweet girl lands herself the popular football star in this quasi-Cinderella story. It’s the perfect read to keep you up way past your bedtime...”
Taylor Dean, author of 'Chasing Fireflies'

Excerpt 2
He reached out and grabbed my hand. “Meridee, I wondered if I could take you out tomorrow night. To make up for that mishap in the CUB, you know?” I blinked, but couldn’t move. Couldn’t even form words. In fanciful daydreams, I’d imagined him holding my hand like this, but never had I expected it to happen. Holy llama. It felt as though Parker was an electrical socket, sending a steady stream of tingling energy pulsing through our connected hands. And wait! Had he just asked me out? I was still playing catch-up. But when his words registered, it was like a bucket of icy water over my head. I whipped my hand away from him. “No, thank you.” I rubbed the shiny counter to conceal a furious blush. For a moment, I’d allowed myself to believe he was serious. “You don’t have to make up for anything. Let’s forget that whole debacle ever happened, shall we?” “Oh, come on. I need a date, and you need some fun.” I scowled. What did he mean by that? Did I appear that pathetic? “Please. I don’t bite.” He playfully chomped his teeth. My lips twitched. “I’ve stopped playing football in the CUB, and haven’t tackled any more girls to the floor. You’ve had a reforming influence on me, Mare.” I narrowed my eyes. “It’s Meridee.” “Please say you’ll go with me, Meridee. We’ll play miniature golf, see a movie. Pretty please with huckleberries on top?” Why would he want to date me when he had that gorgeous cheerleader and every other girl on campus throwing themselves at him? My knees pulled together and I tucked my arms into my side. He really must pity me. “I can’t.” I returned to my needless wiping. “Why not? Do you work?” “No,” I said, grateful I didn’t have to lie. Mom always said my eyes gave me away. “I have tomorrow off.” My body needed the R&R. “Then you can go.” He leaned over the counter and winked. No wonder he wasn’t used to hearing no. When not tackling girls to the floor, he could be very persuasive. I clenched my rag. “No, I can’t. I already have a date.” “Cancel it. Surely he’s not as great a catch as me.” I scrubbed the toppings area with gusto. “I can’t cancel on my fiancé.” I crossed my fingers, hoping that whopper might stay his pity. “You’re engaged?” His disbelieving tone whacked my ego. I nodded without meeting his gaze.

👗Kat Graham vs Katy Perry

Today we have a sequin multicoloured dress by Attico, a piece that certainly does not go unnoticed!
American actress Kat Graham wore it first back in August, while supporting her former "Vampire Diaries" co-star Nina Dobrev at her Harper’s BAZAAR September Issue cover party.
Kat looked shimmering in the rainbow dress, which she matched with black high heels sandals and wavy ombre hair.
American singer Katy Perry wore the same dress while 'on duty': as the new ‘American Idol’ judge, she made quite an entrance at the "Good Morning America" studios. She styled the dress with Katy Perry footwear ‘Microphone’ bright red pumps and yellow lenses sunglasses.

🌍Stairway(s) to Heaven - USA vs China

At the opposite sides of the world, two very different countries have at least one thing in common: a way that leads to heaven!
Obviously, I don't mean it LITERALLY, but these two places are so majestic and breath taking that all you can do is sit there in wonder!
Oahu, Hawaii, USA
The famous "Stairway to Heaven" (Haʻikū Stairs) in Oahu, Hawaii is a must visit if you're the hiking and adventurous kind of tourist: an hiking trail made of nearly 4 thousands steps, along Ko'olau mountain.
Built in 1943 with wooden steps, a part of those have been replaced in the mid-1950s with metal steps and ramps. The place shut down to public in 1987, but people never stopped ignoring the prohibition and hiked their way up to the top, were a radio station is located.
The steps have been repaired back in 2003, but there's actually no intention to re open the trail.
Risultati immagini per stairway to heaven walk hawaii

Zhangjiajie, Hunan region, China
While Haʻikū Stairs are human made, Tianmen Mountain, is an unique natural arch, located in Tianmen Mountain National Park in China. The easiest way to get there is: taking the 7.5km skytram (it appears to be the world's longest) and then a bus ride will take you at the base of the 999 steps that separete you from the "Heaven's Gate"
At the skytram arrival you can both go directly to the bus stop or take a walk on the Glass Skywalk, called the "Coiling Dragon Cliff", it's suggestive and something you don't get to do very often!

Pretty impressive, uh?

Let me know if you visited these places or are now on your traveller bucket list...anyway stay tuned for this month Irish Week, since there's something similar in Ireland as well!

👗Who Wore It Best: Gucci Edition

I'm finally ready to bring the #WWIB edition back, it has been way too long since the last one...
Today we've got four outfits from Gucci Pre-Fall, Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 and I can't wait to read who do you think wore them better!
Let's start with French actress Isabelle Huppert. She attended the Santa Barbara International film festival back in February and showed her allure in a beautiful Gucci Pre-Fall 207 colour-blocking sequin gown. She matched the already interesting dress with emerald-green heels and a nude rose clutch.
Italian actress Stella Egitto wore the same gown while attending the ‘The Leisure Seeker' (Ella & John) premiere, during last Venice Film Festival, earlier this September. She completed the look styling her hair in a messy updo and matching the skirt with pink heels.

Salma Hayek is no newbie to Gucci and proved her love for the brand once more back in May, as she (and her husban François-Henri Pinault) attended the Cini party, during Venice International Art Biennale. The bright fucsia of the dress has been matched with bright white shoes and an high and tight chignon.
The same dress was in front row at the Gucci Spring 2018 show (during Milan Fashion Week) on Chinese stylist Tina Leung. Like Salma, she opted for a tight chignon, but dared more with pearls shoes and a black bamboo bag.

I think this is the first time I can make a comparison between two boys, on #WWIB. So...
thank you, Gucci!😂

Bryan Boy is probably Philippine's most famous web influencer and you can see from this look that he's no afraid to dare when it comes to fashion. He worked the Gucci Fall 2017 floral three-piece suit with a black shoulder bag and black shoes, while attending a private dinner to introduce Gucci Décor, earlier this Septemeber.
Two days later, Jared Leto attended the Harper’s BAZAAR Celebrates ‘ICONS By Carine Roitfeld’ event in the same suit. He paired up the floral assamblement with snake skin shoes and his magnetic eyes.

This Gucci Fall 2017 floral mini skirt has been worn first by actress Phoebe Tonkin. She showed off  her rock style at Entertainment Weekly annual party, during this year Comic Con, back in July. She matched the leather skirt with a black bustier, studded with shiny crystals.
Charlotte Casiraghi attended Gucci fashion show, as part of this past Milan Fashion Week, with the same skirt. Anyway, she opted for a more chilled and casual look, adding a simple black t-shirt and pink pumps.

This is it for this #WWIB edition.

Let me know which ones you think pulled out the outfit better in the comments and if you want to check the previous #WWIB Gucci edition click HERE.

11 Stories Behind Books

I've always been fascinated by novelists creativity and ingenuity: C.S.Lewis made 4 siblings discover an entire parallel world, defeat an evil queen and much more by entering from a WARDROBE! J.R.R. Tolkien invented a language for 'The Lord of the Rings'. Agatha Cristie and Arthur Conan Doyle created the most famous private invastigators of all time...and I'm just naming a few.

Wouldn't be great to know how those characters were born? What or who was the spark that helped the authors writing the best selling novels they're famous for? Well, the chanceis here: biographic movies!

Here's a list of movies about the lives famous writers that gave us Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, but also Elizabeth Bennet, Frankenstein, Holden Caulfield and many more...

The Man Who Invented Christmas Movie Poster
A.A.Milne was a theatrical and novels writer before starting with children books. "Goodbye Christopher Robin" is a 2017 movie about how his son and his stuffed bear became Milne's inspirations.
Winter is coming and soon we'll be submerged by Christmas themed novels...one of the most famous certainly is 'A Christmas Carol", Charles Dickens short story...ever wondered how Ebenezer Scrooge was born? "The Man who Invented Christmas" is going to answer that question, this year!

Immagine correlataRisultati immagini per Professor Marston and Wonder Woman
If you love gothic stories, you surely had read 'Frankenstein' by Mary Shelley. The 2017 biopic "Mary Shelley" focuses on her love story with poet Percy Shelley and how he inspired her to write about the Monster.
Two confident women and their feminist ideals inspired Harvard professor, Dr. Marston, to create the truth machine and the most famous comic female character: Wonder Woman. In the movie "Professor Marston and Wonder Women" we'll get to know the story, from behind the scenes.

Rebel in the Rye Movie PosterSaving Mr. Banks Movie Poster
"Rebel in the Rye", a 2017 movie, follows 'The Catcher in the Rye' author J.D.Salinger's life, from his youth to the traumatic experiences during WWII and her unstable relationship with actress Oona O'Neill.
Mary Poppins, probably the most famous nanny in the world, originally was a book by P.L.Travers. It took almost 20 years to Walt Disney to convince the author to transform it in a movie, and in 2013 "Saving Mr.Banks" is explained why she was so reluctant.

Becoming Jane Movie Poster
Based on the same name novel, "On the Road" the movie is about two friends journey and adventures throughout USA. The book is semi autobiographical, since Jack Kerouac and  Neal Cassady really made that trip.
Likewise Rebel in the Rye, "Becoming Jane" isn't about an author's novel but on the author's life and in this 2007 movie we can enjoy one of the greatest and most loved female novelists of all times: yours thruly, Jane Austen.
Capote Movie Poster
How many authors have been so cryptic and controversial to get two biopic movies within two years? Well, Truman Streckfus Persons a.k.a Truman Capote surely was enigmatic! His novel 'In Cold Blood' has been so sensational that the story behind it has been portrayed in both 2005 movie "Capote" and 2006 movie "Infamous" as well.

Finding Neverland Movie Poster
Last but not in our hearts, "Finding Neverland". The 2004 movie with Jhonny Deep in the role of James Matthew Barrie shows how he got his inspiration to write his most famous character, Peter Pan.

As you may have noticed, the list was in chronological order from the newest to the oldest, to prove that writer's lives have been in movies from a while... I also suggest you to watch "The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness" which is on Studio  Ghibli's founder Hayao Miyazaki. He's not a proper author, but a visionary and it's woth a watch!

Let me know what you think and if I missed someone!
In the meantime, have a wonderful day!

🎬Movie Review: Everything, Everything

Immagine correlata

Maddy is 18 years old and she has never left her house. She hasn't been grounded nor kidnapped, but sometimes she feels like so... She soffers of a rare disease known as SCID (Severe combined immunodeficiency), which keeps her from joining the external world because it could possibly make her sick in critical ways.
Immagine correlata
Maddy's mother (who's also her doctor) and Carla, her nurse from 15 years, are the only two people (along with Carla's daughter) allowed in the house with her and that, of course, makes Maddy feel lonely  and abandoned.
But Maddy's life is about to chance, as a family moves to the house next to Maddy's and the boy, Olly, starts to text her and doing everything to get to know her.
Risultati immagini per everything everything movie
This will cause discussions and pressions on Maddy's relationship with her mom, leading to Maddy and Olly's runaway. This decision could be fatal to Maddy, but without it, she would have never discover how strong she is, even if in a painful way...

My Opinion👍👎
I haven't read Nicola Yoon's novel so I can't make comparisons. Having said that, this movies has its pros, like a sweet love story and a great cast, but overall it left me completely half-hearted. The finale is way too obvious and predictable and the reasons that led the protagonist's mother do what she did were deducible from the first 10 minutes.
What I liked were the soundtrack and the scenographies: both gave rhythm and color to the movie...
Oh! Special mention goes to the actor playing the astronaut (yep, there's an astronaut!). Even though hes has the space helmet the whole time, I found him extremely expressive!

Would I pay the full prize ticket? No, it's not worthy paying the full prize!

👗Elsa Hosk vs Erica Pelosini

Pretty in pink, literally!
This pink sheer Ermanno Scervino dress is stunning...I'm not a far of the sheer trend, but this is an exception! Stunning dress on stunning ladies, of course...
The first model who wore it has been Elsa Hosk at the amfAR Gala, held in Cannes during Cannes Film Festival, this year. She went totally bombshell and completed the look with black accessories.
The same dress appeared, again for the amfAR Gala, a few days ago, on Erica Pelosini. She opted for rose shiny sandal, but also for a chain purse, that ruined the allure of the entire outfit, in my opinion.

Who do you think wore it better?
Elsa Hosk or Erica Pelosini?

👗Marion Cotillard vs Katy Perry vs Cardi vs Giovanna Battaglia

Today's #WWIB is all 'bling bling' thanks to this multicoloured Halpern Fall 2017 look!
The first lady who wore the shiny outfit has been Marion Cotillard, back in May, during the Trophée Chopard Ceremony. She looked stunning with simple/minimalistic hairstyle and make up.
Second celeb is Katy Perry, who hosted the last MTV Video Music Awards later this August. She dared with straight and loose hairstyle and scenographic make up, made of purple smookey eyes and a bright orange lipstick.
Cardi B showed her style at the Nylon’s Rebel Fashion Party, during this month NY Fahion Week. She opted for wavy long bob, pink lips and big bright smile.
And last, but not least Giovanna Battaglia attendet the amfAR Gala event held during Milan Fashion Week, a few days ago. Unlike the other three ladies, Giovanna opted for the mini dress only, showing off her amazing legs. She completed everything with a sleek chignon and giant round earrings.

Which version of the look do you prefer?

Who do you think wore it better?
Marion Cotillard, Katy Perry,
Cardi B or Giovanna Battaglia?

UPDATE: British singer Rita Ora wore the same outfit in the music video of her song ‘Anywhere’.

🎬Movie Review: Dunkirk

Immagine correlata
Dunkirk has been THE highly anticipated MOVIE of this summer, it costed $100 million and in 1 month was able to collect $460 million worldwide.

The whole movie is based on real events that took place from May, 27th to June, 4th 1940 on the beach of Dunkerque, France, known as Operation Dynamo

Thousands and thousands of British soldiers waited for days on the French shore for the navy ships to come rescue them: British troops (along with Franco-Belgian forces) had been surrounded by the German army, so the only way out was by sea.
Immagine correlata
The movie doesn't have a proper protagonist, if follows the events thanks to multiple POVs: from senior officials and simple soldiers (almost all of them were young boys) to the RAF aviators that protected them from Luftwaffe attacks and the sailors/boat owners who bravely went through the war zone to bring them home.

My Opinion👍👎
Critics and movie reviewers went crazy for it, saying it is the best "war movie" of all time, Christopher Nolan is a visionary and stuff like these...At some point, I thought they were going to praise every single person who worked in this movie!
What I liked I about Dunkirk was that it taught me something I didn't know about WWII and it portrayed well how stressful and critic the situation was: two of the protagonist try everything to get away from that beach.
What I didn't like was the editing, it made the storyline impossible to follow: in one scene we're on the beach with Kenneth Branagh, talking to his subordinate about when ships should come; the next one we're with Tom Hardy and Jack Lowden (RAF pilots) talking tactics for the imminent Luftwaffe attack and so on...some may argue that this way the movie is more engagins, I say it is just messy!

Christopher Nolan is a great director and the movie wasn't that bad, but I don't think is the greatest war movie of all times and, if I have to be completely honest, I liked movies like Fury or Full Metal Jacket or Platoon more.

Would I pay the full prize ticket? Not at all, the discout price was already enough!

👗Lily Collins vs Jennifer Morrison

Lily Collins is not new here on #WWIB, but this time I have no doubts and, for me, she is the one wearing this Cristian Siriano burgundy red dress better.
Lily Collins wore it first at the L.A. screening of her latest Netflix original film, ‘To The Bone’ (my review HERE), back in June. The dress has a minimalistic design and Lily completed it with black pumps, a sleek hairstyle and reddish matte lipstick.
Jennifer Morrison showed up in the same dress at the ‘Rebel in the Rye’ N.Y. premiere, earlier this September. She opted for a white clutch and clear, ankle-tie sandals. The finishing touches were a bright red lipstick and a loose waves hairstyle.

Lily Collins or Jennifer Morrison?

#TTT: Top Ten Tuesday

Here's the movies and books of the previous lists that I've watch/read during last months!
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales 2/5 - this was a superfluous 5th chapter, has some of the original charme wiped off, but the special effects are incredible and it concludes the story started with Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan back in 2003.
Captain Fantastic 5/5 - when the movie finishes, the debates start: it's better to be brutally honest with young children and treat them like adults or is it better to protect them from how sad and mean life can be? One thing is clear, however: THIS IS A MUST WATCH!
- USS Indianapolis 2/5 - the story and actors are really good and you can tell they did their best to make this movie an authentic one and I like it for this...unfortunatelly, the scenography and the shooting techniques failed to make it an enjoyable experience.
