"Common" Women / Role Models

Malala Yousafzai was just the top of the iceberg when it comes to women all around the world who fight for their rights, whethter they be instruction, jobs or civil.
In a world where women are still abused and considered nearly mere properties, stories like those of Nice Nailantei Leng'ete and Niloofar Rahmani are just the hope we need!

Here to you stories of two ordinary superheroines...just with willpower and passion they have brought down barriers and customs.

Nice Nailantei Leng'ete is only 24 years old and yet she managed to convince her grandfather NOT to undergo her to excision, a brutal genital mutilation, when she was 8.
Excision was a rite of passage into adlthood for the girls in the Masai village where Nice lives. She was also able to completly abolish the procedure for a new one, more significative: now, the village elders celebrate the girls' adulthood by blessing their schoolbooks.

A different kind of battle was (and is) for Niloofar Rahmani to fight. This young woman (born in 1992 in Afghanistan) is the first Afghan female pilot.
She answered to an Aviation ad on the newspaper: they were seeking for female recruits. So after a 2 years training, she's now a pilot, what her father always dreamed to be.
This is not an easy job...Niloofar has to deal with everyday threats by talibans and family members and with those who think fly a plane is no job for a woman. She said: "I always knew it wouldn't be easy, but it's 10 time worse. But I'll keep flying until I can."

Young women like these two are (and have to be) an example of what can be achieved and realized with hard work, anywhere in the world!
Keep going this way, girls!

Emmy Rossum vs Jessica Capshaw

Actress Emmy Rossum wore a sheer floral Oscar de la Renta dress on the red carpet at the 2015 Film Independent Spirit Awards last February while Dr. Arizona Robbins, ops!...actress Jessica Capshaw chose the same dress to attend the 2015 ABC Upfront early this May.
The "Shameless" actress opted for loose hair and purplish heels while "Grey's Anatomy" actress styled her hair in a controlled messy updo and red ankle strap sandals (is it just me or those saldal matched the red carpet?)

Who do you think wore it better:
Emmy Rossum or Jessica Capshaw?

Rinko Kikuchi vs Harley Viera-Newton

Chanel please forgive me, but when I first saw this dress I thought: "Wow, this Dolce&Gabbana dress is awesome!"
While Japanese actress Rinko Kukuchi wore this colourful Chanel Resort 2015 dress attending the 2015 Film Independent Spirit Awards on February (where she was nominated for Best Female Lead in ‘Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter’), English born/US based Dj Harley Viera-Newton wore the same dress attending the CHANEL Paris-Salzuburg 2014/2015 Metieres d'art Collection event in New York on March.

The first one opted for a more classic and chich hairstyle and silver saldals, the other had an up/down hairstyle and very pretty light pink heels.

Who do you think wore it better:
Rinko Kikuchi or Harley Viera-Newton?

Novel Of The Week: An Abundance of Katherines by John Green

After "The Fault in Our Stars" phenomenon, all books by John Green have been republished with new covers and since I couldn't decide which one of An Abundance of Katherines by John Green's I liked most I've chosen my top 4 and put them together!

This is Green' second novel (wrote in 2006) and, I'm not going to lie, I choose it only because of the name: Catherine, like the Duchess. (I promise, after this post I'm going to therapy for this fixation!)

Here's to you my review and thoughts!

Bee Shaffer vs Juana Acosta

One of Devil Wears Prada's most famous quote is for sure this: "Florals? In spring? Groundbreaking!"

I'm coming up with this phrase because one of today's Who Wore it Best's protagonists is, in fact, the daughter of the person who inspired the character.
America Vouge's editor in chief's daughter Katherine "Bee" Shaffer wore this Michael Kors' floral print dress first, while attending "God's Love We Deliver" Golden Heart awards in New York City, in October last year while Spanish actress Juana Acosta wore the same dress at the photocall of her lates movie ‘Tiempo Sin Aire’ late this April in Madrid.

So, who do you think was more "groundbreaking"?

Who do you think wore it better:
Bee Shaffer or Juana Acosta?
