📺Cure it with Movies/TV Series: Secretaries/Personal Assistants

Being a personal assistant could be a dream job or your worst mainly depends on your employer and whether or not he/she has impossible task for you to fullfil. But if you deal with it with humor and focusing on the positive aspects, nothing can be that bad! Like these women (and man) did...

Gosthbuster (1984) - Janine Melnitz  (2016) - Kevin

In the original first Ghostbuster movie, Janine is the only girl in the Ghostbuster group, she's careless and wears the most enormous pair of glasses I've ever seen. In the 2016 reboot we have a male secretary, played by Chris Hemsworth and he's so dumb and stupid, but also so nice to look at...and that's exactly why he got the job!

Working Girl (1988) - Tess McGill

This is some kind of 'manifesto' for working women that don't accept the status quo and what to improve themselves and to do something they're passionate about. The protagonist starts as an ordinary secretary, but manages to get to the top of her career and, after many vicissitudes, she affirms herself for what she is: much more than just a secretery.

Sabrina (1995) - Mack

Linus Larrabee secretary Mack (portrayed by a magnificent Dana Ivey) is a funny, efficient and beyond sarcastic secretary, ready to fullfil any request for Larrabee with her unique sense of humor.

The Kid (2000) - Janet

Lily Tomlin plays Bruce Willis hilarious assistent, it's her that has to deal with all his appointments and his strange behaviour from the moment his 8 year old version shows up. She's asked in the middle of the night to find out why sometimes the moon becomes a bit reddish.

Fun fact: Dana Ivey appears in this movie, not as a secretary, but as Bruce Willis' character's psychologist.

The Secretary (2002) - Lee Holloway
This movie has been presented during Sundace Film Festival so it's not your average "secretary-boss" love affair, but something more complicated, given the complexity of mental health of both the boss and secretary. But it's a nice story, a movie I will recommend.

The Devil wears Prada (2006) - Andrea Sachs

Probably the most famous 2nd assistant in cinema history: Andrea has to submit to Amanda Priestley's wide range of requests, mostly of them nearly impossible to achieve (read Harry Potter unpublished book) and asked with the shortes amount of infos, like "Where's the piece of paper I had in my hand yesterday morning?". And we all thought Tom Cruise had "missions impossible" to accomplish.

The Intern (2015) - Ben Whittaker

Getting bore about his retirement, a 70 years old man decides to get back to work and has to start like most of new emplyees these days: with an internship. Ben slowly becomes indispensable just by being himself and having a serene and calm attitude.

The Other Woman (2014) - Lydia

Portrayed by rap singer Nicki Minaj, Lydia is everything you DON'T want as a secretary: lazy, disinterested and self-absorbed...She's more interested in her boss personal life than doing her job. But comes up with humorous questions!
Same kind of secretary in the 2016 French movie - Up for Love (my review HERE)

Wonder Woman (2017) - Etta Candy

Filled with British humor, I actually don't know much about her (Wonder Woman movie is set to come out in theaters the 1st of June) but frome the clips and trailers one thing I'm already sure: I like her!

Ugly Betty (2006/2014) - Betty Suarez
The Tv version of "Devil wears Prada" followed the adventures of a Mexican American young lady, Betty, who becomes personal assistant of Daniel Meade, chief editor of MODE, a fashion magazine. She's not pretty nor stylish, but she's smart and compassionate, plus she'll learn to assert her ideas.

Suits (2011) - Donna Paulsen
She's more than a simple secretary for Harvey Specter. Donna is like his partner in crime, his confidant and best friend. Just watch the clip below, it explains everything you need to know about Donna. One word to describe her? Multi-tasking! And always in killer outfits!

👗Amanda Peet vs Diane Lane

It's been a while since I posted a WWIB of an Italian brand and today we have one of the most elegant and chic designer of the entire fashion industry: Bottega Veneta!
First who wore this total white look from Bottega Veneta S/S 2017 was actress Amanda Peet while attending an event for her new show "Brockmire", back in April. She look gorgeous and simply chic with a natural make up and a tight ponytail.
Then, a few days ago, it has been actress Diane Lane who showed up with the same outfit, during the Los Angeles premiere of her latest movie "Paris Can Wait". She opted for the same style as Amanda, very simple and elegant, with soft wavy hairstyle, a simple necklace and gold bracelets completed the look.

Who do you think wore it better?
Amanda Peet or Diane Lane?

UPDATE (23/08/2017) - Queen Rania of Jorda wore the same attire while visiting the offices of Arabic website and Incubator AdamTech

📺Cure it with Movies: Women Driving

So the 8TH!!! Fast and Furious movie recently hit theaters and of course, I went to see it! This time the villain is no other than Charlize Theron, and in a worldwide renowned franchise based on fast cars, she doesn't drive...
There's a saying that women are less better drivers than men and, frankly, I belive is a false myth! There are people who are more skilled drivers than others and sometime these are men, sometimes women. Period!

To prove that here's my list of way too highly skilled drivers in movies...needlees to say, they're all women! Enjoy!

Audrey Tautou in The Da Vinci Code - In the scene where Professor Langdon and Sophie Neveu arrives to the American Ambassy, but police is waiting for them Sophie drives her Smart like a pro! She jumps on sidewalks, drives backwards and still no damages on the car and/or no harm for the people inside it.
Brooke Langton in The Replacements - Annabelle Farrell is the a cheerleader for the Washington Sentinels and gives a ride to the new quaterback, Shane Falco (Keanu Reeves) and while talking football she hit just a little bit the gas pedal.

Victoria Beckham in Spice World - being late for their own sold out concert, running out of time and of a bus driver, Victoria Beckham (then Adams) steps in and decides to drive Spice Girls luxurious double decker tour bus by herself. It maybe not the safest driver performance but they all arrive at the concert unharmed.

Jordana BrewsterMichelle Rodriguez, Gal Gadot and Nathalie Kelley in the Fast and Furious saga - the girls of the saga proves they have what it takes to win races (and hearts of their fellow co protagonists). From Mia Toretto and Letty Ortiz (1st movie), to Neela (3rd movie, Tokyo Drift) to Gisele (5th movie, in Rio), they all are skilled and ready to amaze with both knowledge and techiniques.

Charlize Therone in The Italian Job - joining his late father's gang to steal some gold from Steve (Edward Norton), Stella Bridger proves she's both beutiful, smart and a talented driver...she parks a MINI in a parking space after a bike leaves!

Sandra Bullock in Speed - wanting it or not, Annie Porter finds herself driving a bus in Los Angeles traffic and, if this isn't impressive enough already, she has to keep up to a certain speed in order to not make the bomb that's on the bus explode.

So, what's your experience with women driving? Comment if I missed some major movie female driving performances!

👗Jennifer Morrison vs Paris Hilton vs Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge

I'm a little late for this particular #WWIB, since all three these celebs wore this Self Portrait white dress during 2016 but...better late then never, I guess!
The first who wore the Self Portrait Resort 2016 collection piece has been American actress Jennifer Morrison, in January, while attending Entertainment Weekly's event before the SAG ceremony.
She opted for a wavy and messy updo and a very natural make-up!
The it was time for everyone's favourite heiress to rock it: Paris Hilton was pretty in white as she hit the amfAR's Gala red carpet back in October. Like Jennifer, Paris pulled her hair up and added some bling with a shiny hairbad. Last but not least, it's time for royals: Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, as Patron of Action on Addiction, attends the "A Street Cat Named Bob" premiere in November. She left her hair loose and added a touch of colour with red shoes.

Who do you think wore it better?

👗Karlie Kloss vs Queen Letizia of Spain

Seems like Karlie Kloss 2017 Academy Awards' look has been of 'inspiration' more than once, this past April...
American model Karlie Kloss wore this floor length dress by Stella McCartney first, last February, during the 2017 Academy Awards ceremony. She added a shiny diamon floral chocer and a blue ribbon on her hip to show solidarity with the American Civil Liberties Union.
Last week, the same dress but in a different colour has been worn by Queen Letizia of Spain, in The Hauge in Netherlands. The Spanish royal couple attented King Willem-Alexander birthday dinner to celebrate his 50th birthday.
Queen Letizia showed her signature wavy hairstyle and completed the dress with diamon earring and bracelt.

#TTT - Top Ten Tuesday

Here's the movies and books of the previous lists that I've watch/read during last months!
Made in Dagenham 3/5 - English humour and women ready to fight for equality. A must see for women!
- Race 3/5 - a very well done movie about Jesse Owen's victories during 1936 Summer Olympics in nazi Berlin. Jason Sudeckis also does a powerful interpretation.
- Kong: Skull Island 2½/5 - splatter to say at least, but not as bad as I thought.
- Legend 5/5 - brilliant, I don't have other words trying to describe this movie. Tom Hardy at his best!
- Why Him? 2/5 - too vulgar for my taste, but some scenes are fun.
- Allied 3/5 - great story, scenographies and costumes to die for and the protagonists are quite believable.
- Your Name. my review HERE
Hacksaw Ridge 5/5 - if you haven't already, go watch it! Now!
- Soldier Dog by Sam Angus my review HERE
- Riverted by Jay Crownover my review HERE
