🗾 What to do in Tokyo: have an art coffee @ Reissue Cafè

Japan is renowned for being eccentric and traditional at the same time and one of the places that perfectly represents this dualism is the district of Harajuku: from the majestic Meiji Jingu shrine and local restaurants to the fashion shopping street of Omotesando and the colourful, vibrant and ALWAYS BUSY Takeshita street, this is the place to be to experience old Japan as well as its modern face.
One place I liked in this area of Tokyo is definitely Reissue Cafè! I've been following this latte artist Instagram account (@latte_stagram) for a while and finally I had the chance to go and have a look and a sip of this amazing coffee art. The bar itself is quite minimalistic, but warm and cozy and usually not so much crowed so it's highly probable to have a table fairly fast.

Basically, what happens next is that you'll be handed the menu, where you can choose your beverage and after that the design you want drawn on, which could be in 2D or 3D. You can pick one design from the menu or you can show a picture from your phone and they'll draw it for you....It can litteraly be anything: a manga character, a selfie, a monument, a writings...

I wanted to stay traditional, so I showed them a pic I took when I visited Hakone and after not even 5 minutes, the risult was this
After the longest food photo session ever, I still didn't want to drink my cappuccino becuase I was still in awe with the drawing!
Here's some other examples of what can be expected!
(all three pics come directly from @latte_stagram)
On April, 1st started the new era "Reiwa", to indicate the start of Crown Prince Naruhito's ascension to the Imperial throne, which he will officially assume on May 1. The kanji in the photo above is how it is written.

The taste of the cappuccino itself was avarage and I'd say it was predictable: you don't go to this kind of places for the quality of the food, but for how they present them to you...it's a fact.
Since it is also possible to have lunch, I took advange of it and it was actually pretty good. The selection is limited, but it tasted good.
It was a rainy day and we got to choose a window table, so the atmosphere felt like we where in one of those American movies where the protagonist is in a cafè and thinks about life while having a coffee...My friend and I may have not tought about life's important topics, but we sure laught a lot, took a tons of pics and videos and had a fantastic time.

Before leaving don't forget to put a sticker on your home country on the world map right in front of the bar...leave a mark!
