📺 Korean Tv Series Review: Suits (슈츠)

When I first heard there would a Korean remake of 'Suits', I wasn't particularly thrilled about it, since I already watched four seasons of the American version; I decided to give it a try anyway, as I was curious enough about the similarities and differences from the original characters and then it was going to be a 16 episodes long series, so in case I didn't like it, I didn't have to stick around for long.
Go Yeon-woo has a genius-level kind of memory but had to drop out from school when he was younger: his parents died in an accident and his grandmother took care of him ever since, so when she grew old and fell ill, Yeon-woo started to do every kind of job in order to pay her hospice bills. A friend convinces him to sell drugs to an arrogant rich boy, unaware it would end up being a trap...it's in these circumstances that he meets Kang & Ham's ace lawyer Choi Kang-Seok, who's in the same hotel as Yeon-woo for a round of interviews. Needless to say, Kang-Seok is amazed by the boy's memory skills and so decides to risk it and hires him.
Kang & Ham is a prestigious law firm in Korea, founded by Kang Ha-yeon and Ham Ki-taek (who left when his wife fell sick). Choi Kang-Seok's professional opponent is Chae Geun-sik, who'll do anything to prove that Yeon-woo isn't worthy of working in the firm.
The boy will have on his side two witty and competent ladies: Hong Da-ham, Choi Kang-Seok's incredible assistant, and Kim Ji-na, the firm's paralegal.

Yeon-woo and Kang-Seok should be careful about the boy's exposure, given the fact that he doesn't have a law degree, but that won't stop them to take on high profile cases, which are going to prove how resourceful and skilled Yeon-woo really is.

Things complicate A LOT when Ki-taek returns after his wife's death, ready to restore his influence on the senior associates' board and to have his revenge on Kang-Seok...even if that means he has to play dirty.

My Opinion👍👎
I enjoyed this Korean remake, they masterfully managed to combine various situations that in the American version took almost 4 series to develop and it's amazing how they stayed true to the original characters, transposing all the personal preferences and characters personalities in Korean style: Harvey Specter has a basketballs collection in his office, so Choi Kang-Seok has baseball bats in his.
Donna Paulsen is always one step ahead of his boss's needs and so does Hong Da-ham, Chae Geun-sik even has Louis Litt's habit of recording his thoughts on his recorder!!

Despite all the positive factors that made this series a good one, I would suggest the view to people who never saw the original, because it's almost impossible NOT to make comparisons and since I already knew what was going to happen it felt a bit boring sometimes.
