📖 Novel of the Week: Comeback by Lyn Ashwood & Rachel Rose

NEON is the coolest and most wanted k-pop group at the moment, currently promoting their comeback album and Emery couldn't be more ecstatic that he and his group members are finally getting rewarded for all those years of hardships.
True, they don't sleep more than a handful of hours per night and are always on the road to film a TV show appearance or a commercial, but after their not-so-great debut, he's more than happy to be this busy, also because it keeps his mind to wander to his family back home in the States...

Alana, by her own admission, is just trying to survive by working, with her cousin, as a coordi for a female k-pop group. She basically has to run any tasks or errands she's asked to and constantly gets yelled at by the group manager. She's tired, always down in spirit but rather than think about her own grief (and the reason why she moved from Chicago to Seoul) she's OK with how things are.

Alana and Emery already met, two years ago, but they stumble into each other in the backstage of a Tv program. Emery immediately wants to reconnect with her because he feels she helped him a lot the last time they saw each other, but Alana is so elusive and actually, it looks like she's purposely avoiding him. But the K-Pop industry is a small world and thanks to a viral video they'll end up seeing each other quite often...

👍👎My Thoughts
I got to know about 'Comeback' thanks to Instagram and I thought this book would end up being the umpteenth fan-fiction, but I've been proved WRONG on page 2: set in the K-Pop industry, of course, some places and events the group attends are real, the rest is pure imagination and I loved it!
Having said that, the story is flowy and it took me 5 days to finish it, only I started during on a weekday and I needed to sleep at some point!

I'm not a fan of female characters who run away from their issues but given the gravity of it and her young age, let's say I can understand Alana's grief.
Emery has his own problems, but he's a bit more pragmatic about them...plus it helps he's surrounded 24/7 by his 4 group members and two of them are such humorous and cheerful characters you literally can't be sad for long! (Stu and Sungil, I need you two as my BFFs!).
I was so amused by the fact that one of the members is a k-drama fanatic!

While you can sense where the story will lead, there're still some plot twists to spice everything up. If you're accustomed to K-Pop, fandoms and everything that revolves around it, you'll feel like home. If not, you'll feel out of the world and it's going to be an interesting journey.

Can we now spend a few words on how beautiful is the cover art?
Spectacular!

Other projects from these two authors are in progress and I'm really looking forward to them...I just hope they'll be on other NEON's members!
