📺 Korean Tv Series Review: Class of Lies (미스터 기간제)

Gi Mu Hyeok is an A-list lawyer, working for a powerful and prestigious law firm. He gets assigned personally from his boss to what looks like an incredibly easy case: a high school girl, Jung Soo Ah, has been found stabbed in her apartment and Kim Han So was found on the crime scene. Mu Hyeok is instructed to close the case quickly, with the boy sentenced to no more than 7 years.
Digging a bit in it, Mu Hyeok finds out the victim could have worked as an escort and that makes him lose the case due to Han So violent reaction in court. He also gets fired and his law license revoked.
Being treated like that made Mu Hyeok seek revenge and to achieve that he pretends to be a temporary teacher in Chun Myung High School, the exclusive high school both Soo Ah and Han So frequented. There he meets the righteous and fierce P.E. teacher Ha So Hyun, who's also fighting her own battle against the favoritism system the school has towards some students, all because of their parent's money and social statuses.

After getting accustomed to all the non-written rules, Mu Hyeok understands how Soo Ah's case was just the tip of the iceberg and there are many more hidden secrets and plots, all revolving around the school's top student, Yu Beom Jin, who could strike as the perfect boy in and out classes, but he in Chun Myung School nothing is as it appears.

My Opinion👍👎
Guys, this series is GOLD!
I've never seen a character as complex as Yu Beom Jin, so manipulative of others and cold-thinking even when the situation seems to be slipping out of his hands. Just brilliant!
The actor playing him is beyond talented, even when he smiles he looks mischievous. I really hope we'll get to see more of him...

The character who's diametrically opposed to him is not the lawyer as one might think, but the P.E. professor: she's so righteous and always encouraging everyone to do the right thing, even if it might hurt us. I really like this gritty character.

These high schoolers are really frightening but, even if overly exaggerated, it's important to show how bullism in schools got worse and that perpetrators and people who simply watch and do nothing are equally to be blamed, never the victim.
Other themes like selective censorship or using one's power to hide their wrongdoing are also a strong presence and will make the watcher reflect about them.

Add a powerful and rapping soundtrack to the already gloomy and dark atmospheres and there you have it, the perfect school/crime drama.

This thing about a handful of elite students going around and behaving like puppet masters who own the school (which, you'll later find out they basically DO!) and the teachers are either scared of them or working for them is insane, I felt like a was watching a spin-off od 'Dogko Rewind'....maybe times have changed and bla bla bla BUT when I was in high school I couldn't even hide a pencil without teachers knowing, here they have a Fight Club on the rooftop!

What makes Class of Lies even more outstanding is the fact that the cast is mainly composed of rookie actors and actresses and their performances are always spotless!
If you're looking for a (seriously) good thriller/suspense series, THIS IS IT!

I can't say this enough times:
WATCH THIS DRAMA. NOW!
