📺 Korean Tv Series Review: When the Weather is Fine (날씨가 좋으면 찾아가겠어요)

Mok Hae Won, an introvert cello teacher, quit her job in Seoul, packs everything, and goes back to the countryside where she used to live as a teenager.
There she meets again with people she hasn't seen in ages: her aunt, a retired novelist, which isn't exactly enthusiast about her niece to be back and nags her to go back.
But Hae Won is stubborn and tells her aunt she'll be leaving when spring comes.

While figuring what she'll do, Hae Won reconnects with a few of her former classmates: Lim Eun Seop, who's as quiet and reserved as her, who runs a bookstore nearby her aunt's house, Lee Jang-Woo, the smartest in the school and Kim Bo-Young. She was Hae Won's only actual friend but she broke her trust by revealing her secret and they never talked again ever since then.
She also makes some new friends at Eun Seop's book club meetings, like his younger, lively sister Lim Whi.
Hae Won and Eun Seop will grow fond of each other but, inevitably, past keeps on knocking on the door, and all the 'mysteries' and unresolved issues will surface once more.

My Opinion👍👎
The vibe I had during the entire drama was that both the characters' feelings and the scenography reflected the winter season it was set into: "When the Weather is Fine" is very melancholic and there's always some sort of 'filter' that gives the winter's coldness and lifeless impression.
The hair & makeup staff did an excellent job regarding the high school scene because the characters really looked their younger self....which is difficult since it's seemingly impossible to guess their age, they all look already younger than they probably are!

Both Hae Won and Eun Seop are shy and reluctant to express their feelings, with the latter being genuinely scared about being happy (he thinks everything that could make him so will eventually be taken from him).
Only at nearly the end, the two start to warm up but obviously b that time some major discoveries threaten to drive them apart.

The comic sidekick part is all on Lee Jae-Wook's shoulders and he's smashing it! He is so hilarious I had cramps by how much I laughed! I loved how pure and naive he is and, of course, I ended up with the 'second couple syndrome' since I almost liked more the (tragicomic) interactions with his love interest, Ji Eun-Sil. They were like fresh air compared to the main couple, who has only a handful of light, carefree moments, and yet they were still sort of dull.

An honourable mention goes to the grandpa that takes his grandson to the book club's meetings every week: he doesn't have a single line of dialogue and yet manages to be a calm presence, always smiling and cooking something nice. So heart-melting!

Last but not least, Lim Whi is an extreme contrast if compared to her brother: she's loud (way more than I fancy) and frankly, she gave me multiples headaches, but her understanding of Eun Seop's character and how she acted around him made me love her nevertheless.

Final thoughts: I liked this drama, it was very well acted and every aspect of the story was completely analyzed so it leaves the viewer without doubts or questions. Yet, there were tons of silent moments that were supposed to add pathos, but ended up being excruciatingly boring...for me, at least.
