Dr. Cha Eun-Jae is a brilliant and tenacious 2nd-year resident but gets sick any time she gets into an operation room and because of it is sent to spend her suspension at Doldam Hospital.
Newbie doctor Yoon A-Reum tags along after meeting a surly yet outstanding doctor...our beloved Doctor Kim.
4 years have passed and Doldam Hospital isn't doing that well, financially speaking...They get a lot of patients but treat them even if they can't afford to pay. A new addition to the staff is orthopedic surgeon Dr. Bae Moon-Jung, who was Cha Eun-Jae's senior from med school.
The new threat to Doldam and Doctor Kim this time is called Dr. Park Min-Guk, sent by the newly appointed foundation chairman, Dr. Do (an old acquaintance from season 1), to finally be able to get rid of Doctor Kim and transform Doldam Hospital into a VIP center...
My Opinion👍👎
Dr. Romantic 2 was darker and filled with more political schemed if compared to season 1.
The base elements are the same as the previous season: two talented doctors, who shared some past, are sent to Doldam Hospital as punishment or as last hope for a quiet life and will grow attached to it and the grumpy Master Kim.
Still, I'd advise you to watch the first season because, even if it has a whole new set of characters and dynamics, there are some references to previous situations or events and I think they'd be difficult to understand otherwise.
In season 1 I didn't actually have a favorite character, I quite loved all of them, but in season 2 I must say I was intrigued by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Bae: he may look clueless and lost in his world made of nothing but bones...couldn't be more wrong!
I was already 'acquaintance' with main actress Lee Sung-Kyung (by far, the best comic villain I've seen in k-dramas so far thanks to her performance in "Cheese in the Trap") and actor Ahn Hyo-Seop (seen in "Top Management") so I loved watching them together.
Also actress So Ju-Yeon's character Yoon A-Reum was so cheerful and somehow quirky that you can't help but adore her.
Dr. Romantic season 2 was a nice way to spend my quarantine days and a good continuation from season 1. I usually love k-dramas because they're self-conclusive and don't drag the stories for infinite seasons like American series but, in this case, I wouldn't mind a season 3, which hasn't been confirmed but neither denied.
