Born as a Korean Drama, this tv series had two remakes: one American (very successful, with Freddie Highmore) and one Japanese.
Minato Shindo has savant syndrom, meaning he has an incredible memory and speed of diagnosis that go along with the fact that he speaks his mind without boundaries, which makes difficult for him to have interpersonal relationships.
After a tragic accident where his older brother lost his life, Minato gets under the protective wing of doctor Akira Shiga and eventually becomes a doctor himself.
He starts working in the pediatric department of Togo Memorial Hospital, in Tokyo, where he meets doctor Seto and Takayama, who have nothing but their little patiens interests in mind.
Uunfortunately, hospital financies aren't good and the vice President is plotting to shut down the pediatric department...
Minato has his ups and downs while trying to understand human emotions and how to treat his patients at his best, but thankfully he'll find great support in doctor Seto, who'll quickly become his mentor and friend.
My Opinion👍👎
If you're not completely heartless prepare tissues...boxes of them!
Being sick sucks when you're an adult, go figure when you're a child and in this series it's shown all the possible scenarios: from the lightest to the most complex disease, children who can go home after a surgery and others who has spent most of their lives in and out the hospital.
I am great fan of medical dramas and personally loved it, more than the American remake as a matter of fact: events and characters are interesting and reliable, especially Shindo's character, who's like fresh air: he's so naive, yet straightforward and determined to give his best, so that children can become adults, chance that has been taken away to his brother.
