[International Holocaust Remembrance Day] Movies & Books

27th of January is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a date that annually commemorates the victims of the holocaust and the day when the most famous concentration camp,  Auschwitz-Birkenau, has been liberated from URSS's Red Army.

Back in 2014, I made a post on movies and books about this crucial topic, but it was extremely short and gaunt so, since every year new books (mainly historical fictions) are released, I thought this was the right opportunity to update you with some new ones as well as confirming some titles that are globally renowned.

BOOKS

This is just a small drop in the ocean of books and movies about the holocaust, I left aside those about the resistance that flared up in the last years of Worl War II to focus mainly on the concentration camps' stories.

Sadly famous for being one of the darkest pages in human history, it's of the highest importance that future generations study and learn about it in order not to repeat this unforgivable and tragic mistake.
Personally, I think it would benefit everyone to read at least one book written by survivors: when I was in school, my teacher made us read 'If This Is a Man" by Primo Levi, but currently also Italian senator's Liliana Segre's autobiographical books are recommended.

Either way, whether you opt for fiction or non-fiction, we should never forget the past in order for our future to be brighter.
