📺 Twogether

I love traveling variety show, it's yet another way to get to know a country besides the usual touristic routes...which is exactly what Jasper Liu and Lee Seung-gi experienced while traveling various Southeast Asian countries.

THE PROTAGONISTS
Jasper Liu is a Taiwanese actor and model while Lee Seung-gi is a Korean actor and singer. They are almost strangers to each other and yet set to travel to Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal, and South Korea to meet their fans. But there's a catch: they have to visit a few of suggested destinations and there they'll find clues to where the fan's house is...plus, they don't know whether the fan is Jasper's of Seung-gi's.

They've met just once before they started shooting the show so it was interesting to see how they'd get along, counting they don't speak the same language since Jasper's mother-tongue is Mandarin while Seung-gi's Korean. They tried to learn some 'survival phrases' beforehand, but mainly talked in English and with hand gesturing...

Jasper is the 'quiet and reserved' kind of person and the feeling he gave me was that, between him and Seung-gi, he put a bit of more effort into trying to make himself understood in Korean. During the preparation and during the entire show, he's always checking for the word in Korean and as soon as he overcame the initial embarrassment of traveling with a stranger he tried to converse with Seung-gi.

Seung-gi is a bit more extrovert and it's obvious that he was already used to this kind of show. He doesn't seem to mind the language barrier. Most of the episodes require him and Jasper to work together in order to find the clues that will lead them to meet their fan, but he became unexpectedly competitive once the two were put against one another.

THE PLACES
The duo's first stops are Yogyakarta and Bali, in Indonesia, where they'll visit the country's most iconic places and landscapes while trying to complete some missions in order to get the fan's house address. There's also a time limit they have to be careful of.
Once they succeed and meet the fan, they'll travel to the next city and do it all over again.

The second country is Thailand's capital city Bangkok and Chiang Mai. These two are actually pretty common places for k-pop idols to hold their concert and, anyway, they're are already famous touristic cities but still, it has been interesting because here the fans recommended some activities as well and, besides being hilarious watching Seung-gi and Jasper trying to get the hang of them, it helped them to experience the daily life of the locals.
The third country (and my personal favorite of the entire show) was Nepal, with its capital Kathmandu e Pokhara: here their physical strength, along with the crew's, was really tested because of the altitude and the sudden change of weather conditions...not to mention the fact that they had to deal with the airplane delays while going to and from Pokhara to Kathmandu.

THE FANS
While the two actors spurred on each other by saying 'We have to meet our fan', 'We can't let our fan down' and so on, what I really liked was the pure joy and happiness on the fans' faces when they got to finally meet them.

Most of them never got a chance to attend their fan-meetings nor they were able to travel to  Seoul or Taipei, so it was so moving to see the actors showing at their door and spend some time with them.
I was so surprised to see the fan from Bangkok speaking to Jasper in Mandarin, while the Nepali fan had the best English!

"Twogether" was seriously funny to watch thanks to the interactions between Jasper and Seung-gi and I loved that these two celebs left their comfort zone to try something new and to make some of their fans happy in the process.
