📺 Korean Tv Series Review: Extracurricular (인간수업)

The review contains minor spoilers!
Oh Jisoo is a quiet and diligent high school student: he never draws attention on himself, is an outcast by choice because he doesn't let anybody to befriend him and it seems like he's also emotionless.
Jisoo's only goal is to lead a normal and average life: study hard to enter college, graduate, find a job, and start a family.
To do that he prevented a budget, but he can't afford to 'lose' time working part-time, so how can he achieve his purpose? By providing security service for girls who do 'compensated dating'. Thanks to an app and some IT devices he knows were the girls are and with who and has Mr. Lee on a stakeout in case the client happens to be violent/psycho...

Things start going south when Jisoo is paired up for a club's project with Gyu-Ri. From the outside, she's the stereotype of the good girl: well-behaved, intelligent and friendly, and compliant with her parents. Needless to say that, on the inside, she's emotionally distant, not afraid to use people to get things her way and borderline sociopath.
She discovers Jisoo's earning method she wants to partner with him and when that happens it's going to be the start of their problems...

My Opinion👍👎
This 10 episodes thriller drama gave me goosebumps from the start. It's disturbing, portraying a side of school and life that I really hope is emphasized to the extreme, with twisted and full of flaws characters.
It also highlights society's corruption and pretty facades to divert attention to the illegality happening behind them.

The story is almost totally narrated from the POVs of the youngsters and, believe me, this young cast is superb! Because of the fast pace and the situations, the tension is always sky-high and the curiosity of how they're all going to deal with all the madness will lead to binge-watching.
Adults figures are marginal, with only two positive characters, a teacher and a policewoman driven by the best morals. Mr. Lee is also quite the father-figure for a girl in particular still there's some darkness in his personality

If you like thought-provoking series that will lead to discussions about nowadays issues, this is it!
Given the similarities, I immediately thought of 'Class of Lies', the vibes were the same I had from that masterpiece!

The only I'm not fully convinced about was that a couple of adult characters were portrayed as silly caricatures and, even if it was a way to lighten the mood, I didn't like it.
Still, it's full of action, plot twists, and suspense, so I'm glad I watched it!
