So here's my list... Don't worry, I didn't choose "Home Alone" with Macaulay Culkin. I trust it will be on air on December 24th or 25th...
- Jack Frost (1998) by Troy Miller with Michael Keaton and Kelly Preston. Personally, this is my favorite...It's a bit old, but I love the father-son hockey scene...I always end up crying!!!
- Love Actually (2003) by Richard Curtis with Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Alan Rickman, Bill Nighy, Keira Knightley, and Rowan Atkinson.
- The Family Man (2000) by Brett Ratner with Nicolas Cage and Téa Leoni
- Four Christmases (2008) by Seth Gordon with Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon
"Love Actually" and "Four Christmases" are for those who want to laugh and have a look at how other people deal with festivities. The "Family Man" is the Christmas version of the classical question 'what if...?' I think that (along with Con Air), this is my favorite Nicolas Cage's movie.
Then we have animated movies :
- Rise of the Guardians (2012) animation movie by Peter Ramsey, based upon William Joyce's novels...Actually, it has NOTHING to do with Christmas, in fact, it is set during Easter, BUT Santa Klaus is one of the protagonists and it's still a beautiful story of helping others and believing in good.
- The Polar Express (2004) animation movie by Robert Zemeckis with Tom Hank's voice
- Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) animation movie by Henry Selick. Even if also this one isn't actually set during Christmas, it's almost a forced choice, it's equally gloomy, genius, and a bit disturbing...even if you've already seen it more than once.
Hope you enjoyed the list and let the Christmas season begin!!
