🎄 Novel of the Week [Christmas Edition]: Christmas Ever After by Karen Schaler

❝It's Christmas. Everything's always magical at Christmas.❞
Riley Reynolds is a best-seller romance author but the career-driver anchorman who's interviewing her during the promotion of her first Christmas-themed book has a totally different agenda and just put her in the most awkward position: how could she write about love when she's, in fact, single?

After the disastrous live interview on national TV, Riley's last chance to get her career back on track solely relies on the success of the Christmas Camp her publicity agent has forced her to host...which adds another problem to her list because she's not a Christmas person! Riley has a painful memory connect to this particular time of the year, but she loves her job so she's determined to fake it until she makes it!

Luke Larchmont was more or less convinced that hosting author Riley Reynolds' Christmas Camp at his family's lodge would help him sell it faster and at a better price, but after seeing how Riley handled the live interview the only thing he wants is to cancel the whole thing and go back to his job as green-advisor in Europe.
But when Riley shows up at the lodge, Luke has no other option than sticking with the original plan...

Riley does her best to hide her aversion for Christmas to Luke, Caylee, and Maryanne (two lovely young women who came to help with the Camp) but how she'll not freak out again when Colin, Brendan, and Tyler show up at the Camp? Why are all three ex-boyfriends here?

👍👎My Thoughts
The plot initially drew me to start the book but what kept me reading was the happy atmosphere throughout the entire story and the slow but constant evolution of Riley's feelings towards Christmas.
All characters are positive and driven by the best intentions which helped create a Christmassy environment...along with tons of Christmas lights and an overwhelming amount of Santa-themed stuff in Riley's room at the lodge.

The author is clearly a fan of happy Christmas stories (who isn't?) and that reflects on her bubbly writing style.
At the end of the book, she put all the recipes and green tips that the readers can borrow for their Christmas; an idea that I personally found interesting and inspiring, I'll surely try to bake some cookies with one of the recipes.

If I had to pick a flawif we can call it that!, it would be the almost absence of surprises about what's going to happen so if you like your Christmas love stories sprinkled with suspense here and there, maybe this isn't exactly the novel I'd suggest you, but it's still a great one whit some great quotes and funny moments in it!

Christmas Rating: 2½/5
My vote: 7½/10
