[Parisian Week] 📖 Novel of the Week: The Woman of My Dreams by Nicolas Barreau

Welcome to the first day of this year's Parisian week.
The novel you're about to read the review of doesn't have has yet to be translated into English, meaning it doesn't have an English cover, so I put the Italian and German ones.

Antoine Bellier reads way too many books, but I guess it's something you can't help when you're the co-owner of a bookshop named Libraire du Soleil...

One day, he's heading to have lunch in his favorite cafè and there he falls in love at first sight with a beautiful lady seated in his usual table. She looks lovely and Antoine is tempted to go and speak to her when a handsome man sits with her.
But, PLOT TWIST, before leaving she gives him a note with her name (Isabelle), her phone number and the request to call her at 3pm...Antoine can't believe his luck and takes a stroll to a nearby park when the unthinkable happens: the number gets ruined and the last digit is unreadable!

That doesn't stop Antoine to try all the numbers to get in touch with the beautiful lady that stole his heart and so a series of comic events will mark the most intense and exciting 24 hours of his entire life.

👍👎My Thoughts
I've read all the books Nicolas Barreau has written and I really like his style...that's why I was left a bit disappointed by 'The Woman of My Dreams'. It feels rushed, I doubt it took more than a week to complete and it's surely far from the quality of 'The Ingredients of Love' and 'The Cafè of Small Miracles', but it's not a complete disaster...

I liked how the story is able to keep the attention of the readers and it takes them to a wonderful tour of the Ville Lumière. As always in Barreau's books, the protagonists' best friends are wise, witty and sometimes they steal the spotlight!
Another common point is the color red: from the woman in the red coat of 'One Evening in Paris' to the protagonist's red umbrella, I think it's safe to say that Barreau doesn't dislike the color. Also, he has a thing for mysterious girls and incredible misfortunes for the male lead.

I guess this is one of those books made for the readers to enjoy when they don't have much time (you can easily finish it in just a couple of days), but it's still entertaining, that leaves positive feelings once it's over.

Probably it wouldn't be the first book of the author that I'd recommend and I think it would be better to buy the ebook rather than the paperback copy, still I can't say it was a waste of time.

My vote: 5/10
