[Parisian Week] 📖 Novel of the Week: The Happiness of Little Things (La felicità delle Piccole Cose) by Caroline Vermalle

And this is it...it's the end of the Parisian Week.
To be completely honest, I'm not 100% satisfied with how it turned out because I was hoping to be able to read more books and post one review per day, but it can't be helped.
Still, I've been able to share my thoughts on these books so it wasn't a complete disaster.
Here's my last review, hope you enjoy it!

It's December in Paris and the lives of Frédéric Solis and his assistant Pétronille are about to be turned upside down. Frédéric could give out the image of a man who has everything: money, the status, wealthy friends and all the women he could ask for...reality is he's on the edge of bankruptcy because he's spending way too much money on impressionists paintings and the only woman he'd ever loved broke up with him.
Pétronille has been his assistant for almost one year and she's slightly infatuated with him, but between her University studies and this job she's barely managing everything and the results show it...

One day, Frédéric gets notified with an inheritance from a person he'd never known, but he doesn't care: if it's money, he could pay off his debts and finally focus again on his job properly...but all his hopes get crushed when he finds out this unknown man left him a bunch of tickets for boat rides on the Seine, the museum and what it looks like a treasure map.

That's how an incredible 'hunt' back in time starts for Frédéric and Pétronille, uncovering some 30 years old mysteries!

👍👎My Thoughts
Compared to the previous books, this one is more mature and has more depth in both the descriptions and the backgrounds of the characters.
It starts slowly, with a steady base and then it's a crescendo of plot twists and new discoveries that left me hanging! I loved how real it felt and how intricate things can become from a simple fear or doubt.

Pétronille's relationship with her sister is just amazing and I loved how crazy and original her family is...She's a kind-hearted person and her way to deal with the ugliness of this world is hilarious!

Even if it is set during the weeks before Christmas, it is not very Christmassy, but it still shows all the allure and elegance of Paris and I think describes an aspect of this city tourists are not used to.

My vote: 9/10
