Eun Bong Hee is a lively and warm girl, studying to become a lawyer. For her internship at the prosecutor's office, she's assigned to No Ji Wook, a handsome but cold and workaholic prosecutor. Nevertheless, the two of them build a good relationship...only until Bong Hee is framed with the murder of her ex-boyfriend and Ji Wook gets appointed as the prosecutor for her case.
Due to an issue with the murder's weapon, Bong Hee gets released but, of course, her reputation is ruined, making it difficult for her to find a proper job once she graduates from law school. Ji Wook is disbarred from the prosecutor's offices as a consequence of losing the case so he opens his law firm in his house.
Bong Hee and Ji Wook stumble into each other every now and then, but the tension is still there...when one night someone breaks into her office/apartment, Ji Wook helps her by providing her a safe place and, later, a job in his firm. To complete the team we have Ji Eun Hyuk (Ji Wook's childhood friends even if they don't get along well anymore), Mr. Bang (who worked as Prosecution Investigator with Ji Wook) and Mr. Byun, former name partner of a famous law firm.
Their first and highly publicized case is the murder of a famous TV chef, for which there's already a suspect: Jung Hyun Soo. The guy looks kind of sly and shady, but since there is no evidence of his guiltiness, he's set free...only later, Ji Wook will discover that his alibi was fabricated and he has a lot of skeletons in his closet!
Parallel to the main story, we witness Bong Hee's efforts to clear her name from the wrongful murder charge that still follows her and will undercover the dark and shameful side of the law.
My Opinionππ
So, finally, I managed to watch a drama starring Ji Chang Wook. Apparently, he's one of the top actors in Korea and is, as expected, very popular and loved in all Asia. I tried to watch 'K2' and 'Healer', two of his most famous action dramas but I found them not engaging enough for me to keep watching...Different fate for 'Suspicious Partner' which is more a legal/romance story.
MINOR SPOILER - at some point, Jung Hyun Soo is running away from the police and is the victim of a hit-and-run accident that causes him to temporarily lose his memory...well, he's so good his performance and when he eventually gains the memories back I was left mesmerized by the change in his facial expression...marvelous!
The only issue I have with the majority of dramas is that I
find myself wishing for them to finish quickly, as they sometimes fail to
maintain the interest throughout the entire story, but this doesn’t apply to 'Suspicious Partner' as both the story and cast are amazing, well developed and
ultimately, engaging up until the very end.
Some traits are similar to most dramas, while others are
completely new: for example, the female lead doesn’t always look polished like she just
stepped out a fashion show, there are moments where she’s completely disheveled (especially her hair, LOL) and when she’s absorbed in her job and tasks she
usually forgets to shower…obviously, she still looks better than commoners like
us because, hey! it’s still a tv series.
Anyway, what I LOVED about this drama is Jung Hyun Soo's character, played by actor Dong Ha. Even if he's supposed to be the villain of the series, I found his character the real show-stealer and Dong Ha does a terrific job displaying all the character's emotions (or lack of them).

To conclude: yes, I liked this drama because it was funny, filled with action, mysteries, love, and a sense of forgiveness. If you're into melodramas, you should give 'Suspicious Partner' a chance.
