Did a bit of research and then landed on Airbnb and found "The Capsule".
From the photos and reviews, it seemed like a safe bet, so I booked it.
I would be arriving late at night, so I contacted the hosts and they gave me all the instructions on how to 'self-check-in', which translated means they gave me my capsule number (all-female dorm) and the code for the main gate's electronic keypad. Simple as that.
What I found was a net and clean space, close to metro station Euljiro 4 (Sa)-Ga (less than 5 minutes walk) and with multiple convenience stores spread all around. The area is a bit 'industrial', but I never once felt in danger nor been afraid to come back late at night...and I was traveling by myself, so that means something.

Safety-wise, Seoul gets the total score:
for female solo travelers, it's a safe city
to travel and go around to.

Back to The Capsule, the showers are located on floor B1, but rest assured that even if it is the underground it's not cold at all. I've always found plenty of shower towels available as well as the hairdryer, tissues, and q-tips. The entrance, aisle, and showers were always clean and well maintained and, believe me after a day walking and visiting in the cold weather (yes, late March in Korea is still freezing cold!) a good shower is just what you need.
The price is extremely convenient if you're on a budget or want to experience the capsule trend. If you don't mind shared areas and confined spaces, go for it!
All the cabin can be locked from the inside and there are lockers for your luggage with the number and letter of your cabin at the entrance of every dorm.
It's closer if you come from Seoul Station or Gimpo Airport, however, it's manageable even if you land at Incheon Airport (like me)...just take the train from the airport all the way down to Seoul station and from there it's a 20 minutes bus ride.
The staff is amazing and always available with a big smile on their faces!
