#TTT: Top Ten Tuesday

Here are the movies and books of the previous lists I've watched and read in the last months!
● Sul Più Bello - have you ever watched a movie because it seemed so promising and interesting from the trailer but it ended up that the only good part of it was, indeed, the trailer? Unfortunately, this was the case for this Italian movie. The premises were encouraging: a young girl, terminally ill with a fun-sounding disease name but that is really serious. A wealthy, beautiful young boy. The two couldn't be more diverse and yet, somehow, they fit together. Sound nice?
Too bad that the dialogues are full of nonsense, the story looks like a series of completely unrelated scenes put together and the protagonist is hard to sympathize with.
The Hate U Give - based on Angie Thomas' novel of the same name, this movie has been a revelation. Starr Carter lives between two worlds: the one of her almost all-white private school or her beloved neighborhood, where drug dealers are a constant presence. Starr's father raised his kids to be proud of their African-American origins and taught them to be righteous but not let their skin color be an excuse for people to mistreat them.
The racism that unfortunately the protagonist experiences firsthand is dreadful and the way she deals with it and the teaching we ALL can get are both inspiring and crucial.
Thou Shalt Not Hate - I wasn't expecting this movie to be this slow and full of silence, but the story itself is nice. A Jewish doctor is almost eaten by remorse for not helping a victim of a car accident because of his Nazi tattoos and tries to make amends by helping his kids. I might not like the directorial execution but the acting was good and I love the scenography.

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature created at The Broke and the Bookish. It was meant to be only for books, BUT I changed it a little bit so it will be 5 books I want to read and 5 movies I'm planning to watch. PLUS it's going to be monthly and not weekly.
