📺 Korean Tv Series Review: Search (써치)

Sergeant Yong Dong-jin is a cocky dog handler who's almost done with the mandatory military service every Korean man is required to do.
A couple of weeks before his discharge, Dong-jin is picked as part of a rescue team that has to operate in the infamous DMZ as a soldier got lost and was allegedly attacked by a wild animal.

After the mission, Dong-jin is selected again to join a task force, lead by Captain Song Min-gyu, to investigate and track down a mysterious target who's suspected to be part of the North Korean army.
First Lieutenant Son Ye-rim from KCST (Korean Chemical Special Team) also joins the team as she suspects some mutated version of rabies might spread within the DMZ's wildlife.
The team will soon discover that the target isn't as easy to locate and capture and that there's much more under the surface of the mission, going all the way back to a tragic accident that happened in 1997.
My Opinion👍👎
After a lot of melo/comedy dramas, some action was exactly what I needed. I was really surprised to find that it was only a 10-episodes series but the story flew by smoothly. As there are quite a few plot twists along with the series, the script didn't leave any question unanswered and, eventually, everything will make sense.

What I liked the most was Sergeant Yong's absolute love for the military dogs and his friendship with some of the soldiers at the base, it was refreshing seeing them help and support one another. I'm a dog lover so I added 'Search' to my list as soon as I read the plot and I have to say that the dogs' actors are so expressive!

Also interesting were all the political games and schemes behind something that was supposed to be a 'simple manhunt' and even if it felt a bit confusional at first, all the puzzle pieces fit in the right place at the end.
GCI was kind of rudimental, but it didn't affect the enjoyability of the story.

This is a series that can be easily binge-watched within a couple of days, I started watching it during the Halloween weekend, and I must admit that some scenes really scared me!
If you're up for some military fiction with a sassy protagonist, Search could be what you're looking for.
